    1. Hey DivHut,

While REITs payout well they are very volatile and can drop their dividend yield at any moment this is why I plan on buying 1 or 2 stocks next year that are more stable to help my portfolio yield stability.

  1. I followed over 50 DSI blog and yours is the most inspiring. The report is very clean and easy to read.

I am new to DSI and decided to do it last month. Most stocks chosen by others have low dividend rate, less than 4%. It gave me anxiety because the dividend would accrue too slow when my income is very low now. Consider an annual dividend rate is 4% and a growth rate of 10% per year (10% is an outstanding increase), the dividend rate will be 10.37% after 10 years. I am wondering why not buy a stock of a 10% dividend rate now! After reading all of your posts, I decided to follow CIM, GLAD, and MAIN.

    Thank you.

    1. You have to buy/trade/invest in stocks that are right for you. Do not take risks if you do not have too. Do not put your whole paycheck into stocks. Many people invest in the 3%, 4%, 5% dividend yield stocks because they are more stable long term when it comes to dividend payout and increase. Most of the stocks I invest in are REITs that while have a high dividend yield, 10% or higher, their dividends are not safe and a lot of times will be cut. Another thing also is for my portfolio I have to be on top of it and be ready to sell stock on a daily basis while other people who have a more conservative stock portfolio might only look at it once a month, one a quarter.
