I was going to write a long blog post about how last year went for me but instead I am going to keep it short and sweet. My dividend total for 2016 came to $417.12 while my expected forward yearly dividend total is $716.94. My cost basis for 2016 was $8,378.54 which brings my dividend yield to 8.557% My stock portfolio had a value of $9,091.38 on January 1st. Of course as a dividend investor I am less concern of the rise and fall of stock prices and more concerned about the cash flow and progress of a company which influences their dividend payout and if I am going to invest in them or not. My goal for 2017 is to invest between $7,000-7,500 but right now a lot of stocks are at their 52 week high thanks to the stock market rally that followed the US election. I plan to wait for the right opportunity to buy stocks which means my forward dividend might not reach as high as I would like but my goal is to at least get to $1,000.
Here is my 2016 dividend monthly payout. As you can see my monthly payout grew nicely as the year went on. I would like to see most of my payouts hit between $50 and $100 a month by the end of 2017. We shall see.
